African Cultural Study Tour, Join us!
Discover the beautiful culture of Africa through an exciting cultural study tour to Ghana. Travel with us this summer and immerse into the heart of traditional African drumming and dance, music, history, and rich culture like no other. Learn about Africa in a different light, fall in love with the culture while drumming and dance to its traditional music, and even learn a new language.
Experience first hand the vibrant culture of Africa in our 10-day cultural study tour. Led by renowned percussionist, educator, and tour guide Emmanuel Annang. The tour combines travel and leisure with inspiring study programs just for you. You will be introduced to a wide range of topics related to African culture, music, philosophy, and community.
Your African experience is not complete until you have explored the fascinating attractions Ghana has to offer. You’ll be able to visit beautiful nearby beaches, historical sites, breathtaking wildlife and nature reserves, and art centers, all of which are included in the tour package.
Tour participants will also study traditional African drumming, dance, and rhythms for 4 hours daily, all while enjoying the beautiful Ghanaian coastline; it's the perfect way to gain valuable experience while immersing yourself in a new culture. Dances and drumming taught range from traditional rhythms specific to many Ghanaian ethnic groups and rhythms of neighboring countries in West Africa played on both djembe, dundun, and kpalogo drums. Drums, both djembe, and kpalogo drum will be available for rental cheaply during the tour.
The home base for the program is centered in Nungua a village on the outskirts of Ghana's capital. Ghana as a country is renowned for its dynamic cultural expressions, its friendly people, and its outstanding artistic heritage which manifests itself in all aspects of local performance and craft.
If you are looking for an opportunity to immerse yourself in the heart of traditional African music, dance, and drumming, while experiencing local cultures, look no further! As a way to give back to the community that shares so much of their music and culture of which you become part, we provide leisure time to allow participants to volunteer at one of our meaningful community outreach programs, whether it be working with orphanage children or teaching at a local school.
We also offer extra drumming and dance lessons along with tuition in Dunun, Balafon, Kora, Mbira, Talking Drum, Flute and more. Rates are given per person hourly.
